Charts Dont Lie: Best Hip Hop Tracks October 14

This week in rap and R&B sales and chart
placements.
The biggest story in this week's charts is the
triumphant return of Janet Jackson, who -- as
she should -- takes the top spot this week,
making her one of three artists who has
scored number one albums over the last four
decades. It kicked off a very rap and R&B-
heavy top 5, followed by The Weekend, Drake
& Future, and Fetty Wap.
Take a look at the full breakdown below.

1) Janet Jackson— Unbreakable : Janet
Jackson returns to the top spot for the
seventh time with her new album, coming
through with 116,000 combined sales
(108,689 excluding streams).

2) The Weeknd— Beauty Behind The
Madness : The Weeknd's first sales week was
impressive, but more impressive is that Abel
has been keeping his numbers up ever since.
This week he's at number 2 (up from 5)
with 72,778 combined sales (31,006
excluding streams). His total sales count is
now at 559,077, so we assume the RIAA will
certify his album Gold soon enough.

3) Drake & Future—What A Time To Be
Alive: : Drake and Future are down one spot
from 2 to 3, 64,944 units in combined sales
this week (26,778 excluding streams).

4) Fetty Wap— Fetty Wap : Fetty Wap had a
great first week, and he's still hanging on in
his second go-around, rounding out the top 4
(making it the first all rap and R&B top 4
we've seen in a minute). Fetty's LP
moves 64,280 copies (22,674 excluding
streams). He's at 98,000 total sales.

5) Future—DS2 : Future is up from 17 to 14
this week, once again placing two albums
within the top 20. DS2 sells 20,392
units (6,289 excluding streams), putting its
total at 266,000.

6) Drake —IYRTITL : Drake rounds out the
top 20, up one spot from 21. His "mixtape"
moves 17,976 units (4,901 excluding
streams), beefing up his already impressive
numbers to 1,071,000.
7) Bryson Tiller— Trapsoul: Bryson Tiller
came out of nowhere to a pretty solid first
week in sales with his debut project, Trapsoul,
and it's still doing numbers, moving 17,376
copies in its second week (9,203 excluding
streams), putting him at 33,000 total.

8) Mac Miller—GO:OD AM : Mac's first
week was a bit underwhelming, and his album
has also fallen down the charts pretty steadily
since. He moves from 18 to 28 this week, with
13,115 in sales (7,058 excluding streams)
and 92,000 overall.

9) J. Cole —2014 Forest Hills Drive: Cole is
up three spots from 32 to 29, bringing
in 13,101 units (4,117 excluding streams).
He's moved 1,029,000 copies total.

10) Travis Scott— Rodeo : Scott is still
hanging in the top 40, down from 33 to 34,
and managing 12,055 copies sold (3,770
excluding streams), making his full
figure 98,000.

Drake is gunning for that number one spot on
this week's Hot 100, moving from 3 to 2, tying
his highest ever solo peak with "Best I Ever
Had". He continues to hint at the video
dropping soon, and if that happens it could
easily push it to number one (hopefully Apple
allows him to put it on VEVO so the streams
count towards his sales, but we kinda doubt
it). Other moves include Ty Dolla $ign's
"Blase," which is getting some new traction
and jumping from 93 to 80, as well as Rae
Sremmurd's "Come Get Her," which moves
from 88 to 78. Drake and Future's "Jumpman"
seems to be the biggest hit of the WATTBA
pile at 30, but 8 of the other tracks from the
project are still present on the charts as well.
